Director of Outreach - Trū School

Director of Outreach

Join a school for transformative learning.

Tru is seeking a director of outreach to support the dynamic community of a microschool, grades K-5. Following progressive and constructivist principles of education, we provide many key characteristics of a research-based school:

  • warm and engaging school climate
  • integrated and thematic curriculum
  • inquiry-based science
  • conceptual mathematics
  • direct investigations of the surrounding community
  • school-wide theatrical performances with music and dance
  • portfolio assessment
  • mindfulness practice

Our unique program follows the philosophy of the founding teachers, who seek not merely to teach children but to awaken within them a sense of empathy and connection. Inspired by Parker Palmer, Nel Noddings, John Dewey, and many other voices in educational literature, the school believes that the inner experience of the child is crucial to meaningful growth.

As the director of outreach, you will work with the head of school to develop a comprehensive strategy for outreach and family retention. You will oversee the entire process of attracting and enrolling new families: advertising budgets, social media presence, public relations opportunities, admission events, promotional materials, website development, application management, child visits and interviews, financial aid process, admission decisions, and welcoming new families. You will also work with other staff to facilitate parent engagement with the school and its mission.

Tru is a member of the California Association of Independent Schools, the National Association of Independent Schools and Bay Area Directors of Admission (BADA). We follow the BADA Principles of Good Practice, and as director of outreach, you will maintain our membership and relations with this association.
